Hello,

I tried to customzie the folder by using the desktop.ini pointing to the
folder template.

It works OK in my machine, but when we go the corporate standard machine,
there is no customization when the folder is open and I have to manually
customize it by clicking "customize this folder->next->choose a
template(current)". Any idea what is wrong?

Thanks for advance.

Hi Sherry,

Not sure I understand but from the 'symptoms' it sounds like your machine is still
running Windows 2000 SP2 or lower, and "the corporate standard machine" is running
Windows 2000 SP3 or SP4. For more information, see the following Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article:

Carrie,

I finally successfully used AllowLegacyWebView, AllowUnhashedWebView and
RevertWebViewSecurity registry key to get the customized folder. The reason
I was not getting it before is I did not reset the folder view after the
registry was set.

The following registry entry is generated after AllowUnhashedWebView are
set. In this case, you receive a security message for Web view templates
that do not have a hash registered. When you click Yes to the security
message, the hash for the template or customization registers as
follows.[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explor
er\
TemplateRegistry]
"534279109381860364633752381094206295159"=dword:00006828.

Thanks,

Hi Sherry,

Sorry, I don't know why it happens. Also, it is very difficult to troubleshoot since
the TemplateRegistry value that you included in your August 13, 2003 10:26 PM message
is not found in my registry. Furthermore, I am unable to find any information on
using values such as found in the TemplateRegistry key in the desktop.ini to
customize a folder.

Perhaps if you post the text of your desktop.ini, and any information about the
method you are using to customize the folder, I could figure things out. Also,
please include the Service Pack level of the machines in question and verify that
both machines have the TemplateRegistry value that you included in your August 13,
2003 10:26 PM message, by 'default' (that is, that you didn't manually add the
value).

: Carrie,
:
: Thanks for your information.
:
: But I tried to follow the article and set the registry key for
: AllowLegacyWebView, AllowUnhashedWebView and RevertWebViewSecurity, the
: folder is still not customized. We did end up find the registry key, which is
:
: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
: TemplateRegistry]
: "534279109381860364633752381094206295159"=dword:00006828.
:
: This is the registry which affect the apperance of the folder for us.
: Any idea why that happens?
