Hello, all:

We have a home network. Two winXP(laptop) and a win2k
connect to a router. The router connects to a
cable-modem and then to Internet. The workgroup is named
"myhomenet".

Now the three PCs are all on Internet and work well. BUT,
in the "myhomenet", there are only two PCs, a laptop
(Toshiba) and the desktop. Another laptop(HP) is not
present in the "myhomenet". So it can not share files with
other two PCs.

Could you tell me what the possible cause is?

Disable (or better still, remove) all firewalls from the
problem pc (built in and 3rd party ones)and all other
pc's if necessary, then see if this solves the problem.
If so, you can then turn each firewall on in turn and
configure it to allow access to/from all addresses on
your LAN. Exactly how you do this will depend on which
firewalls you are using, but you probably need to be
looking for an "allow" or "trusted zones" setting. Have a
look at the manual that came with the firewall if you
have one.If you are using an XP pc on a LAN, you should
have the built in firewall turned off all the time, as
this is just intended for a single direct connection to
the internet.(right click "local area
connection"/properties/advanced tab)
