Hello,
I have only one partition on the disk - SYSTEM and BOOT in one - but this
partition is not placed from the beginning of the disk (appeared after
deletion of the other partition which started on the beggining of the disk).
This partition is marked as active, system files present, BOOT.INI states
Partition(1). But system halts when searching for bootable hard disk (not
loading NTLDR either).
When booted with Windows 2000 boot disk, where BOOT.INI states
Partition(1), everything works fine. What could be the problem?
I haven't tried FIXMBR and FIXBOOT yet.

Nice day Ondra.

There were 3 NTFS partitions. The first was active and contained
BOOT.INI+ntldr. I have deleted the first and the second partition (from
DiskManagement). Selected the third one as active. GHOSTed NTFS partition
image to the third partition. Restarted. "NO BOOT DISK...". When booting
from diskette, everything goes well with the same set of NTLDR+BOOT.INI
files as are present on the remaining (and now the only and active)
partition.

Thanks Ondra.

Give this a shot or possibly an in-place upgrade. Boot the recovery console
and from a command prompt issue the command;
fixboot

To start the Recovery Console, start the computer from the Windows 2000
Setup CD or the Windows 2000 Setup floppy disks. If you do not have Setup
floppy disks and your computer cannot start from the Windows 2000 Setup CD,
use another Windows 2000-based computer to create the Setup floppy disks.
Press ENTER at the "Setup Notification" screen. Press R to repair a Windows
2000 installation, and then press C to use the Recovery Console. The
Recovery Console then prompts you for the administrator password. If you do
not have the correct password, Recovery Console does not allow access to the
computer. If an incorrect password is entered three times, the Recovery
Console quits and restarts the computer. Once the password has been
validated, you have full access to the Recovery Console, but limited access
to the hard disk. You can only access the following folders on your
computer: %systemroot% and %windir%
