Took my garbgage out back to the dumpster and eye a PC thrown in there.
Fish it out and find the bozo threw out 2x1GB of Crucual Rendition DDR400,
GF2 MX400 64mb AGP, D-Link Network card, 4port USB 2.0 adapter, Gigabyte
GA-7VAX mb, AMD socketA CPU (haven't taken the heatsink off to see what
speed it is yet), and a shit 150w HIPro PSU. I haven't tested it yet but
I'm betting the only thing wrong with it is the PSU so they just threw out
everything except the HDD and CDROM drive. Bonus!

Cool. Is the case any good? Hopefully it's a high end Barton CPU.
Twenty for a P/S, thirty for a dvd burner, forty for a hard drive
< if you don't have any of that stuff laying around > and you've got
a decent little general purpose box. Heck, you could forgo the HD and
just run a Linux Live cd for Internet browsing.

Or tell the wife you need to upgrade the HD in your present PC
and use the old one for the "dumpster box".

I already have 3 PC's here but I guess I coul use a 4th as a dedicated
Linux box. The case is sno good as both sides are missing from it. Think I
will get one of those small cube cases for it but the mb is not a micro so
need a small cube case that fits standard ATX mb. Am going to test out the
hardware tonight to see if it is all working ok.

My suspicion was correct, it was only a bad PSU. Bought a cheapish case for
60 bucks slapped the hardware in it, threw in a 350w Sparkle PSU, Liteon
DVD drive, and 30GB HDD I had kicking around and now have it up and running
with FreeSpire 2.0 Linux. Woot!
