I have 2 dns servers W2K standard primary and secondary.
For the last 2 days, one of the host records (an mx record) has started
resolving to the wrong address and then of course the mail goes back - and
even worse, it is only happening to a handful of people.
it goes
mail.mycompany.com A xxx.xxx.xxx.140
mycompany.com mx10 mail.mycompany.com
When the person who sent the email gets the message returned on a failure,
the ipaddress it is coming from is xxx.xxx.xxx.3 which is one of my servers,
but not the mail server.
I've deleted and recreated the zone as well, just in case, and this is a
long standing server where no changes have been made on it for absolutely
ages! It just sits there and runs.
Has anyone seen this before and can give me any ideas? It of course is
creating all kinds of havoc!
TIA
