Hello,

I have one lan with an AD native domain (migrated from a NT4.0 domain), all
the workstations receive their ip configuration from a dhcp server with one
scope that offers all the information inclosed the dns default domain.
For name resolution i have the wins service to resolve netbios services from
the w9x clients as well as the dns service.

Now i need to create a new AD domain in the same phisical wiring, the same
lan.

My question is:

How to configure the dhcp serve to offer for each domain your respective dns
default domain and notify to each one DNS server the assignation?

You know where are documentacion about that?

Many thanks

Eric

Sound like on one subnet, with one DHCP server (or even mutliple split
scopes), you'll need to use a common DNS server in this case. Just create
the new zone in DNS, then on the machine you're going to promote, make sure
the Primary DNS Suffix is set to the new domain, and then point to this
common DNS server, and fire away.

Thanks Ace,

Only one new question,

In the dhcp server do i have to remove the 015 Domain name scope option for
not assign this to the new domain?

It looks like I would remove that. That gives the search suffix to the
clients. Since you'll have two domains, it seems this would only hurt.
