one contact entry with two email addresses

I am using Outlook 2002. I have a contact who has two email addresses. When I enter email #2 in its proper place (Email 2 in the drop-down list on his contact card), he then has TWO entries in the email address book (although only one in the "contacts" list). This wasn't the case with the previous version - I could just have one entry, with two possible email addresses. This litters up my email address book unnecessarily. What gives? Any way of making this work?

This is the way the Outlook Address Book has always worked. It lists each
electronic address separately. That's what most users want. You probably
weren't using the Outlook Address Book before.

Is there another address book I could have been using? I remember distinctly another friend who used to have 2 email addresses. She only appeared once in my Address Book. When I addressed an email to her, after entering her name in the "to" field I could then right-click and select which email address I wanted to use. Is there a way to set it up so that I can do it this way? Thanks.

Only if you were using the long abandoned Internet Mail Only mode of Outlook
98/2000. It didn't have the transports necessary to use the Outlook Address
Book, so it used the Windows Address Book instead. It would have functioned
this way.
