Yeah it is. I'm dealing with a bunch of people who have
like 0 computer skills. They probably don't know the
difference between a double click and 2 click.
Anyway, i don't remember what i did in XP. I haven't been
on my XP computer in a long time. I know it was some
little file you create in like notepad and had like 3
lines of code.
Try this: from a command line, enter: shutdown -?
If you get the output below, create a shortcut on
the desktop and put something like "shutdown -s"
in it. You may have to experiment with the combination
of switches.
Usage: shutdown.exe [-i | -l | -s | -r | -a] [-f] [-m \\computername] [-t xx] [-c "comment"] [-d up:xx:yy]
No args Display this message (same as -?)
-i Display GUI interface, must be the first option
-l Log off (cannot be used with -m option)
-s Shutdown the computer
-r Shutdown and restart the computer
-a Abort a system shutdown
-m \\computername Remote computer to shutdown/restart/abort
-t xx Set timeout for shutdown to xx seconds
