Like others who have posted to this group over at least 2 years, I
have had a problem using remote desktop access with some of the
computers on our network, running XP. What happens is that I connect
and see the current screen of the remote computer, but then am
disconnected with this message:
"The remote session to the remote computer was ended by means of an
administration tool. Your administrator might have ended your
connection."
We have the Novell client on all computers and most are set up so that
the Novell password is identical to the Windows XP password. So, when
logging on at the computer, the user only enters the password once,
gets logged onto the network, and starts Windows XP.
It turns out that the remote disconnect problem was due to auto logon
being turned on for Windows. That this was the case was not obvious,
since the Novell logon was still required.
The bottom line is that the remote disconnect problem was solved on
each affected computer by changing the AutoAdminLogon value from 1 to
0 in this registry key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogOn\AutoAdminLogon
Hope this helps others.
