Place 500 in a blank cell, edit|copy the cell with 500, edit|past
special|add on the cell you want to change

You can add 500 to a cell by typing 500 in a blank cell, copying that cell,
then selecting your cell that you want to increment and: right-click, select
Paste Special, then click "Values" and "Add" and then press OK. You can do
this to multiple cells instead of just one.

Or, if you have a value in a cell, you can press F2, type +500, then select
everything in the cell and press F9. If you have a formula, press F2, then
type + 500 and press Enter.

What does clicking Values do? I use the paste special Add or Multiply all the
time and never had changed All to Values in the top section.

Keeps you from pasting (or overwriting existing) colors, conditional
formats, comments, borders....
