Onboard nic disconnects

I am having an issue with my onboard nic. On occasion when i am on the
internet, my nic gets an ip address change and i am no long able to go online
or view my workgroup. All my other pcs on the network dont this dont do
this. I have cable internet. I am pretty sure my firmware is up to date
along with the drivers. Ive done an adware and virus scan and nothing has
came up. This is the 2nd windows installation i have done on this pc and the
problem is still present. My board is an msi k8N Neo Platinum. Im ready to
go out and buy a new Nic. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thank
you

Often this relates to ACPI problems. Try unchecking the option to "turn this
device off to save power"

Other thing that can do this is, suprisingly, a misconfigured subnet-mask.
Reason is that if the computer cannot identify the broadcast-address for the
network (the highest IP in the subnet range) it cannot renew its DHCP lease.

On second thoughts it cannot be a subnet-mask problem because that would
affect all computers using DHCP, and you say others are OK.

I'd go for powersave as the cause.
