? on usb

I need to buy a new scanner and the one I'm looking to buy has a usb 2
output and my comp only has usb1. Is usb backward compatable?

Yes, it should work fine.

Care to elaborate? I believe your'e wrong in that a USB 2 scanner or similar
device will work fine on USB 1.1 ports its just the slower 1.1 ports will be
a bottleneck and may slow scanning down a little. Have a nosey at this site
re backwards compatibility if you dont believe me: http://www.usbman.com/

The OP will have no problems with that setup due to backwards compatibility.

I'm using that very configuration -- An USB 2.0 scanner connected to a
machine's USB 1.1 port.
