I was told that if I have a router I do not need a firewall. I'm running
Zonealarm right now.

If its true would the same apply to a wireless router.

My sister moved in with me for awhile and she's got a note book.

If so ... are there any preferences out there. I know less then nothing about
routers & wireless.

I have both a router and ZoneAlarm. It occasionally still notifies me
that it has blocked another computer trying to access mine. I like it
because it also allows me to control OUTGOING traffic.

If the router has firewall capabilities. Not all of them do. NOTE: Most
routers (broadband routers included) monitor incoming only. If you want to
keep an eye on outgoing traffic, configure a third party firewall to
monitor that traffic.

I think I'd agree with your idea. I am on cable and I have plenty memory & disk
space. I think I'll go with your way.

Thanks for the inputy. Appreciate John

Thanks for the info on routers Sharon. I think you and Gerald with the note
just befor your are both with the same thoughts. I think I will keep Zonealarm.
Thanks again Appreciate it. John
