Just bought my self a new Epson but I was wondering shall I turn it off at
night or just leave it on. I have been told not to leave the Epson's on
when not using them is this true

There is no practical reason to leave any printer on all night when not
in use. In fact, I have mine set to turn off automatically after 30
minutes.

I also turn off my monitor at night, but my computer "tower" and modem
is left running 24/7 because I often have it run various tasks at night.

cheers for that, how can i set the epson to turn off, i have the C64

I'm sorry, I use Canon so I'm not positive, but you may have a setting
in the printer driver that let's you set an auto-off period.

There is no feature allowing you to do this on an Epson. Just turn it off
using the power button on the printer. Don't use the power button on the
surge strip.

I vote - leave it on. Forever.

I also vote to hook it up to a UPS.

In other words, some printer has power saving features built in and others
don't. You'll most likely find more features on a mid to high end deskjet as
opposed to a low end.
