On-line virus checker

I wanted to use an on-line virus checker, just for reassurance. I use
Avast as my main anti-virus tool. But as I use Mozilla Firefox as a
browser the only online tool that I could find that would process me
with this browser is:
http://www.freedom.net/viruscenter/onlineviruscheck.html

I am a little concerned as it wants to download a file on me. Does
anyone have any experience of this site please?

I use Firefox .8 as well, I went to Trend house call & I needed a plug-
in for house call the link was http://
housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/install.html?application/x-
trendjavascan-plugin

try going to http:// housecall.trendmicro.com & see if you get
redirected to the housecall site. You do have to stay at that site until
the d/l is done or it will fail.

All of them have to load files. They have to load the scanner and
definitions.
