Lately, my screensaver does not come on, which I discover usually first thing
in the morning (computer's always on). I've tried changed the timing and
clicking on "apply" and "ok", but that has no effect. System Restore set to a
few days earlier gets it going again, and then it's fine for a week or two,
then it goes off again. I've deleted Setpoint from Task Manager, and also
have DVDLauncher there--can I safely delete that as well? (Don't have
Ehtray.exe or any of the others that have been cited as problem).

I went through all that with WinDVD and all the other things listed as being
a problem, and my screen saver stills works sporadically. For days on end,
it works just fine, but then for one or two days in a row, it may or may not
come on. Never did find a solution for it, so I just live with it. It's not
like it's preventing me from doing anything; it's just irksome when
something doesn't work right.

Good luck,
SC Tom

Try rebooting your machine once a week to see if the problem goes away.

That depends on what applications (Avs, Windows Updates, other applications
need to update) calling home for updates and how often your NIC need to ping
your ISP to get/renew IP?
Try to set another screensaver and see if the bahviour will disappear!
