Omit a series name from the legend?

Is it possible to omit a particular series from being listed in the legend?
I don't want to turn off the whole legend, just hide one series.

Occassionally, I use a series that is more of "metadata" in nature, and I
don't want it listed in the legend, instead I put a textbox on the plot area
and use an arrow to connect this text box to the series. This can also
be useful if the series can't be described in the few words that'll fit in a
legend.

It seems that a natural place for this would be in the Format Data Series
properties page. There is already a tab named "Options" which could have
a checkbox "Include in legend?" which would default to true.

Hi Steve,

There is no dialog-box option to include/exclude a data series from the
legend.

That said you can remove a single legend entry.
Select the legend and then select the legend entry and then delete.
Make sure you do not just select the legend Marker as deleting this will
delete the data series as well.

Hi Steve,

As I mentioned, if you select the marker instead of the text and marker
the data will be removed.
So for a column chart the little square is the marker and the
text+marker is the legend entry.

Try selecting the legend and then using the right cursor key to select
the legend entry.

When I do that (Office 2000) it deletes the data series as well.
