Among other reasons, I did a clean reinstall of XP Pro
because of the error that i get when trying to open the
properties of a scheduled task.

General page initialization failed.
The specific error is:
0x8004130d: The task object could not be opened.

As well, the task will not run
I DID NOT SPEND *10* HOURS reinstalling windows, and
restoring drivers, files, and settings for nothing.
Please tell me what is causing this, and how to fix it.

Impossible to tell. Start by checking event viewer as that may give a clue
as to the source. Open Control Panel, go to Administrative tools, open
Event Viewer. Look for an error or errors corresponding to when this event
occurs, double click and see if you see a reference to anything. If you
can't decipher it yourself, click the third button down, this will copy the
error, then paste it into a message box and post it here and maybe we can
decipher.

Check to be sure you have the latest drivers for your hardware, especially
your graphics card and soundcard. Do not use Windows Update for this, check
the device manufacturer's web site.

If all drivers are up to date, perhaps you should try removing applications
one by one, running the system after each to see if the error goes away. If
it disappears after one of the removals, you've found the likely culprit.
The application may need to be updated or you may need to install a later
version if one is available.

Question:

Once you did the reinstall, did you try to do what you are trying and
failing to do now and it worked? Or did you go ahead and start reinstalling
all your applications and such?

It was still working after I installed all my programs
again. But it stopped working sudenly. I deleted the
tasks, and created them again, and they worked again.
But if it did stop working again, what would cause that
(if no programs were installed)
