What are Omegacorner.com drivers? I've come across a few posts mentioning
omegacorner.com. Are they modified ATI Catalyst drivers? Are they based on
the latest (Catalyst 3.8) drivers? Do most people use them? What are the
pros, cons, etc. I'm gonna be doing a fresh install of Windows XP in the
next few days, and am wondering if I should download Catalyst 3.8 or these
omegacorner.com drivers?

Thanks,
Harry

What are Omegacorner.com drivers?

Drivers optimised for games.

Catalyst drivers?
Yes

Are they based on the latest (Catalyst
3.8) drivers?

Yes - they usually come out a few days after the official
ones.
Do most people use them?

Our survey says?

No idea.
What are the pros,
cons, etc.

Best bet is to try each with a range of games and see which
you like the best.

Omegacorner drivers will really sink your AquaMark3 scores, be warned.

Perhaps this means the Omegacom drivers suck, since AM3 is supposed to be a
'real world gaming' benchmark.

Perhaps it is proof that nVidia and ATI both cheat on benchmark
optimisations.

Perhaps it means something else.

I do know that the O drivers are overall better in EverQuest than the nVidia
ones, alhough there is a z-buffering problem that makes hidden surface
removal a hideous lag-generator.

The Omega drivers are customised to be more stable (certainly the ATI ones
anyway) for gamers. I usually use them with no problem, and now they appear
almost immediately after ATI release a new one.

I personally have had great success, but I don't care about
benchmarks. I've played 30 different recently-released games with the
new omega leaked beta drivers, and they've been as stable as
orthorhombic sulfur.

Same here...I like them.

If you use the Omega drivers, do you still get to use the ATI Control Panel
software? If not, does the Omega driver package have any provisions for
controlling the screen gamma ? (I need to control screen gamma for slide
scanning)

It's got all the original stuff and more. And my benchmarks never went down
using them either.

Thanks. I just might try them next time I feel adventurous enough to update
the drivers.
