Why don't I see an option for it? It only offers 9500->9700 mod,
9800SE-9800 mod, or no mod at all.

There is no 9700->9800 mod, they use different VPUs. The 9500 however,
uses the same VPU as the 9700.

You should start drinking prune juice and KY jelly cocktails right now,
that will make things a lot smoother.

There was such a 'mod' that allowed 9700 cards to use some features of
earlier catalyst drivers that were originally only available to 9800 cards.
However, these have been available to all 9500 and 9700 cards from catalyst
3.4 onwards. However, this did NOT turn a 9700 into a 9800 - it only
ebabled some minor driver features.

Vell, the only difference between R300 and R350 is the infinte long
pixel shader (F-buffer) that the R350 has.

The reason I am wondering is that earlyer Omega drivers had that
option and when enabled, I got better performance in shader intensive
aplications.

I believe that the feature that Omega was enabling has since been
enabled by default on the ATI drivers--there's no way to put the
F-buffer into an R300 though--if there was then ATI would have just
issued a flash update instead of rushing a new chip to market.

You can't convert a 9700 to a 9800.

Thanks for the info.

I know that you can't put the F-buffer on the R300 :) I just needed the
feature that inproved perofrmance in earlyer Omegas.

Bye!
