Excel ole action in excel and ppt not responding

for the past 20 mins my ppt is not responding with a presnetation saved regularly but still opened. I copied the file in my docts and tried to close the asssociated excel file but it answers with Excel is waiting for another application to complete an ore action. It's been more than 20 min now. How could I do to avoid losing data and start working again? Txs
