Hi

I would like to install lotus notes, however it had
previously been installed (and uninstalled) on my computer
and when I try to install it this time I get a message:
"Error 1714: the older version of Lotus Notes 6 can not be
removed". I can not remove it in the Windows Add/Remove
Program utility because I get a similar message where it
is looking for "lotus notes 6.msi"
I have totally uninstalled lotus (even going so far as
deleting it on the registry). Have noticed a strange
thing though. It appears under the add/remove programs
list but not in the registry directory:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Micorsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio
n\AppPaths\Lotus Notes 6.

Do not know what to try now - any suggestions would be
really appreciated.

Thanks

Me again - typed the wrong path when referring to
register. Did look under uninstall (not apppath).

Also, have tried to use a Windows installer cleanup
utility found at this site:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/
but it wouldn't let me uninstall lotus notes - came back
with error msizap.exe: 2.

Still trying...

Sounds like yor are up for some really hard work.
First backup the system. you will probably need it.
Use findfiles with search hidden/system/resdonly files turned on and delete
by directory all "Notes" files. This has the bad side effect of destroying
all archives. Search the registry for "Notes" and Lotus" and "IBM" and
delete questionable entries (anything that you think may obstruct
installation), if you have the time you may be very incremental about this.
If all this fails reinstall XP. It kinda tries to not be so lossy as
earlier windows OS's on reinstalls. it helps some.
