What error messages do you have?
FrontPage 97 and FP98 both require a web server to work correctly -
Windows XP Home does not support any web server, but Windows XP Pro
comes with IIS.
What exact version does your laptop use? Home or Pro? If it's Pro,
have you installed IIS from the Windows CD?
Have you installed the server that comes with FrontPage? If so this
will have to be removed since it does not work with Windows XP -
removing it may be difficult.
When installing early versions of FrontPage on Windows XP, you MUST use
a Custom install and don not install the web server. FP98 can be used
without a server, with difficulty. For FP97 a server is essential.
It is time to get a later version - Expression Web is available as a
trial from
http://www.microsoft.com/expression and any version of
FrontPage qualifies for the upgrade version of Expression Web.
