Greetings all,
Are there any experts that might know the answer to this question.

I just received a used HP Scanjet 4200c with the PrecisionScan LT Software
CD.

The scanner must be about five years old.

I'd like to install the software on a computer which is only a year old
running Windows XP.

Does anyone know of incompatibility issues using that software with the
newer OS on the computer?

Thanking all in advance.

It is common that older peripherals require an XP-compatible driver.
Check HP for an XP-compatible driver. You can try to install the old,
original driver - it might work if written for Win2K, but XP will reject
it if it finds it incompatible. Check with HP.

No experience, but you will want the XP drivers for it, from

Works fine (I'm using it on a XP Pro PC). Download HP's XP driver from their
website. Just remember to install the driver and PrecisionScan LT BEFORE you
connect the scanner (as described in the manual) - otherwise it won't work.
I never got the 'one-touch' buttons working though, but I never use them
anyway...
