Hi,

I've been trying to fit a newer drive on an old machine and it's
causing problems.

The machine is an Apricot P166 which can recognise the drive but as
soon as the operating system tries to do anything with it i.e. boot,
partition, etc., it seems like things fall over.

The drive is 12GIG but the machine was only designed for drives of 8
GIG.

Is there any point in continuing with this machine?

Cheers,

Pablo.

That is what the socalled 'drive overlays' are for.
Or you can set the drive to 8GB by jumper.

I tried setting the driver overlay software but it didn't increase the
visibility of the drive.

I'm pretty sure there's isn't a jumper that does that :-(

I've since junked this machine, but the drive is now happily working
in new chip / motherboard combo.

Thanks anyways!

Pablo.

I have a 6x86 PR266 computer to which I connected a 20 gig HD.
The BIOS showed it as 8.4 gigs yet all of the drive is accessible.

That's interesting.
