Old PowerPoint files

I have files saved in 1996 that PowerPoint 2007 or PowerPoint Viewer 2003
cannot read. How do I get them converted to readable format?
 
John,
You will probably have to open the file in an earlier version of PowerPoint
say PPT 2000, save it there and try to reopen in PPT 2007.
