Hello. I've a queston about how to retrieve old Outlook
Express mail from a backup on a new computer.
Specifically, I purchased a new computer for my
daughter. The store where we bought it transferred all
her files from the old computer to the new one. They
copied every directory and file they could find from the
old computer to a file folder called data backup.

The old computer had Windows 98; this one has Windows
XP. We have been unable to find her saved email, which
was filed in Outlook Express on the Windows 98 computer.
I asked the support people at the computer store how to
find the files and the person I spoke didn't know. He
suggested I come here to ask.

If anyone knows, or can direct me to a faq or site with
that info, I would much appreciate it.

Thanks!

Catherine

Outlook and Outlook Express are two different programs.

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/

Support Center for Outlook Express
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?xmlid=fh;EN-US;oex

Internet Explorer Newsgroups (Outlook Express)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/support/newsgroups/default.asp

OUTLOOK EXPRESS, included as part of Microsoft Internet
Explorer, offers standard Internet e-mail and news access,
required by many home and small-business users.

OUTLOOK, provides comprehensive integrated e-mail,
including information management and collaboration capabilities,
required by a wide spectrum of users from home to small
business to large enterprise. Outlook has the Calendar and Tasks.
