I recently bought an Xtasy 9100 128mb AGP on ebay and have had no luck
getting it to work in my system. Maybe it's too old?

Abit be6-2 v2.0 RAID
Cel 1.3 (using Tully adapter)
256 RAM
S.B !live value
Windows 98SE
Formated HD & started fresh.

Is the AGP slot incompatible?
I've tried Cat 3.10 drivers...no good.
Formated and tried the Cat 3.7 drivers...no good.

I realize there's a chance the card was DOA.
How can i test that?

TIA
Keith

I very very much doubt it is too old.
Sounds like a dead card.
Is there another system you could plug it into ?

is it getting recognized by windows as a Radeon card or just standard VGA?
Was the prior VGA device a PCI? Did you change the bios to look at AGP as primary + set IRQ?
Did you remove all software and drivers from the prior adapter? especially if it was a nvidia.

Thanks for the replies.
Windows did not recognize it as a Radeon on its own.
I installed the Catalyst drivers & it then recognized
it correctly...but would reboot over & over . Safe mode
only.
My old card was a rage 128 pro ultra 32mb AGP.
Bios is looking for an AGP card...yes.
The card is alone on IRQ 10. Tried 11 but would
freeze w/ badly garbled graphics before getting to
the desktop.
I formatted HD between driver version tries.
I will bring it to a friends and try his machine.
Figures...$51 WAS too good to be true.
Thanks again.

the 3.7s are the most stable for my 9100 - doing
a format and fresh install of the OS is a good idea
when adding new hardware but not always necessary.
the graphics card does need its own IRQ under Win98
but it doesnt matter whether its 10 or 11.
check you bios settings
AGP Aperture = 128 or 64
Fast-Writes = OFF
check if the cards fan is working.
if it works partially but locks up - try underclocking it.

yeah...i hear ya about it not being necessary to format.
BTW...put the card in my mom's soyo/piii750 setup & it
worked like a charm (w/ 3.10). Her mobo has a ?universal?
AGP slot, w/ no divider nub. I'm thinking the slot on my be6-2
may be the problem...maybe not.
I now have a good excuse to get an upgrade.
Thanks guys.
Keith
