I don't know if this is possible but I put together a new
system and am wondering if I can slave the old hard drive
and transfer the information to the new system rather than
trying to put the old one back together and trying to
transfer it through a network.

I have win xp pro on the old hard drive and it is a maxtor
30 gig.

The new system is xp corporate and the hd is 250 gb
western digital.

Well let's see... there is no such version of WindowsXP as Windows XP
Corporate.... so what do you really use as your operating system.

There is Windows XP Pro Volume Licensed, which means you obviously have 5
PCs or more and buy the O/S direct from a MS Licensed Retailer...

Or there is what is commonly called Corporate, which is an illegally hacked
copy of XP Pro.

Any any rate the new hard drive comes with a CD full of utilities software
that will do what you want. And the drive also comes with an instruction
sheet explaining how to use the CD. Bit of a no brainer really... provided
you read it!
