I am trying to update from Windows 98 to XP.
I have ran into a problem with Office 97's Outlook 97.
When I got Office 97 serveral years ago, MS provide a free
download update to Outlook 98. It was a download and
install from C drive. I saved the download.
My problem is when I try to install it now the update will
dial out to internet and then report that it cannot find
the update site.

Is there anyway to use the setup that I have saved?

Thanks restless

I don't think so. You would have had to save all the install files locally
in order to be able to install Outlook 98 this many years later. The free
download was discontinued when Outlook 2000 was released.

I think I saved the complete install files (26.1M 34 cab
and 4 files). This was what was the complete download. Is
there any thing else that is normally needed to do an
install. Is the 34 cab files and 4 other files (26.1M)
what was on the outlook 98 CD?
Thanks

That I don't know...it's been a loooong time :-) If you don't get any
other responses here you might try doing a Google search -- Google Groups
will allow you to search through many past years' worth of messages in the
microsoft.public groups. Good luck.
