Old files running on xp.

I need a bit of assistance on getting an old file to run
on xp. I've used the compability wizard to no avail. What
seem to be the problem is that xp is not recognizing the
file. it runs when it double clicked on but does not
install. It does not show up in the display list as an
avilable file. So I'm at a loss for what to do. Any
sugestions would be appreciated.

Need more details. What kind of file are you double clicking? A setup file
or a data file?

If a setup file - for what program? Maybe someone else has installed it and
can give you some tips on how to get the program running in XP.

If a data file, open it with a program capable of reading the file format.
