old computer monitor blank

my old computer (windows 98) went blank and only the green light on the rightside of the pc is on. The mouse is not lit , nor is the keyboard. Everything was working even the internet when I installed the router, but this problem seemed to occur when I tried to share files and printer.
 
Your problem is entirely coincidental to installing a router. Did you go
into the computer to install a LAN card?

The mouse and keyboard (and monitor) get their signal from the computer
bios, after the computer has successfully completed it's P.O.S.T. routine.
You have a bios/hardware problem!
