I saw in this group similar problem posted in ..1999 without any
answer. Hope someone will help me now.
Hardware: Compaq LTE 5380 laptop p133 (yes it was still working!),
When I boot the machine, (I remove all batteries before) it takes an
abnormal time to start (20'), then it appears to do this correctly. I
can hear the hard drive spin up (quietly) and the floppy drive makes a
soft click. Then the BIOS kicks in:>>>>>>>>>>>
SystemSoft BIOS <following by bios description>
==================================================================
WARNING - SYSTEM RESET DUE TO CORRUPTED HIBERNATION FILE
WARNING - CMOS CHECKSUM INVALID - LOADING USER DEFAULTS
Cursor is blinking. I hit the <F10> key or <F1> ; keyboard seems
running but no action and then system becomes totally non-responsive!
At this point, the system power/reset button (the one I powered on the
system with) does nothing. To try again, I just remove the battery
which powers off the system, then reinstert the battery.
I have tried to remove all batteries (inclusing the CMOS) and try
again, but nothing works.
Obviously, I tried to remove the disk and boot from the floppy,
without success!
I appreciate any and all help, info and suggestions. (I also know that
it is "too" old and I already have a better one, but this one is still
perfect for my young kid).
