Hi!

I setup a new PDC and create new AD users (only 50)
because old one is damaged.
Now I have problems with 2k and XP clients to attach them
to new AD (domain name, IP, DNS, usernames... everything
is same -only passwords are new). Of course I can join
computer to new domain and create new user, but...
....is it possible to stay in original users profile and
be joined to new AD.

First thing is realy important to me, but I have also
another question: Is posible to export to new AD only
some users and passwords and not whole System state?
So on client side it will looks that is everything just
the same as before.

Thank you for help.

Mitja

Well the new AD does know nothing about your old domain computer accounts,
so it is normal, that you can not login wit those computer to the new
domain. New domain has a new SID which is completely different from the
other domain. Now it your old domain is still around, then you could use
ADMT v2 tool to migrate user and computer objects between them

To copy your user profiles, you can use File and Settings transfer wizard
from Windows XP cd-rom, to export user settings and import them in another
profile.
There are tools to export users from AD like CSVDE and LDIFDE, but none of
them has the capability to export user passwords.

Hi Matjaz!

Domain name is the same on new server (also IP). I still
have old one, but both could not be online at same time,
so ADMT cant solve this problem.
I am planing to use transfer wizard, but what to do with
2000 clients.
Any idea?

Thanks,
Mitja

AFAIK File and settings transfer wizard (FSTW) works for Windows 2000
clients too. Before FSTW there was user state migration tool that did that,
but I think, that it was part of Windows 2000 Server resource kit.
