I'm trying to take old photo albums, scan the photos and copy them to CDs.
Can anyone recommend a good, free program that will enable me to label my
pix? Thanks

The following freebie can add names to images
(one at a time or in a batch):

FastStone Image Viewer
http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

Open an image in the program and go to...
Tools / Batch Convert...

On the 'Batch Convert' tab...add the files
to the Input List that you wish to add text to...

Next....check....Advanced Options.

Click the Advanced Options button / Text tab...

Check the 'Use Text' box...

You should be able to proceed from there.

Hi, Lisa

Consider using semi-transparent watermarks. They won't spoil the overall
picture impression since they are almost invisible, but you can still se
them. I do not know if the software recommended below has such an option. If
not, then try searching MSN for "semi-transparent watermark" software for
Windows XP.

If not found, try this one:

Unfortunately, it's not free (about twenty bucks), but it helped me in the
best way, so even I wrote my story in the blog.

Instead, how about a program that adds a border to a photo, and puts
a caption in the border. That way you have a caption, plus an unsullied
image.

What program would that be??? I'm confused.

I was just suggesting a useful program. I haven't seen one that does
this...yet. ;-)

You've already had suggestions regarding programs to add superimposed
captions; I was just wishing for an improvement on that.
