Olap client - Pivot without SQL SP?

In order to use Olap up against my SQL server i got some hints in this group
about i should use the PST from the SP my SQL is running. But what if i dont
have any SP on my SQL?
There is a special applikation thats running on my SQl that does not work
withthe Sp installed - can i use the PST from SP2 or 3 without any problems?
