OL2003- mail not being checked upon connection?

Using OL2003, my email accounts are not being checked immediately upon
starting OL2003. Although this setting is selected in
Tools>Options>Mail Setup, the initial mail check does not transpire
until two minutes after starting (every two minutes is my setting for
mail checking).

What simple setting have I overlooked?

Thanks,

--Howie

Do you have it set to send immediately when connected?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to the
Swen virus, all e-mails sent to my actual account will be deleted w/out
reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer

If this is the setting to which I referred in my original post
(Tools>Options>Mail Setup), then yes. If there is a different or
additional place to select this, then possibly not.

Any other settings which might impact the program's ability to check
(send/receive) email upon being started?

Thanks,

Howie

I have the same situation. It did not occur while running the beta, but
after uninstalling the beta and installing the released version, Outlook
2003 will SOMETIMES not send/receive when started (sometimes it does).

Glad? to see I am not alone. I noticed tonight that my initial mail
check is approximately five minutes after opening the program (not two
as earlier suggested). After that, mail is checked every two minutes
as I have selected, but when I open OL2003, my selected email accounts
should be checked immediately. FWIW, like many, I am using a cable
modem connection to the Internet.

Usually indicates a damaged Send/Receive group. Was this an upgrade or clean
install?

It was an install over Office XP coupled with an import of my email
from Outlook Express.

What is the procedure to repair the damage?

Thanks,

Best thing is just to create a new profile from scratch. Upgrades form
previous versions often become corrupt or contain outdated references.

Mine was a clean install.

Can I assume a new .srs will be created and there will be no loss of
messages, settings, etc., etc.? In other words, what is the net
result of this action?

Thanks,
