OL 2003 from OL2000 w/ Exchange 5.5

If I install OL 2003 over OL2000 on my notebook will my settings will
migrate OK when the my company server is Exchange 5.5. My company said I
could install Office 2003, but I am otherwise "on my own". Are there any
problems w/OL 2003 working in a corporate enviornment using this setup?
 
Your settings should migrate ok, but it's recommended that you create a new
profile. You should not have any problems with outlook 2003 and Ex5.5,
although it's better if all users upgrade. You also don't want to open your
mailbox with outlook 2000 after upgrading - rules break.

I seem to recall that there is a problem using "Exchange Cached Mode" with
Exchange 5.5. Check the Microsoft Knowledge Base Library to confirm -

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

Why do you recommend a new profile?
I have adminsitrative privileges on my PC? Does this usually allow one to
create another profile? Won't the migation automatically overwrite one of
the profiles, or does it leave the settings intact. Please note my OS is
Windows 2000 Professional (not XP) .

You should be able to make a new Outlook profile - control panel, mail
applet. We recommend new profiles because we see enough problems with
upgrades that are fixed by new profiles that it's worth doing it from the
start. All profile settings are left in tact during migration - as they are
if you uninstall and reinstall the same version.
