I have two PC's networked together via crossover - one running XP, the other
running ME. They both have the same workgroup name and subnet mask. Both
have fixed IP addresses - the XP machine is 192.168.0.1 and the ME machine
is 192.168.0.2. Both machines can ping each other fine, but I cannot access
either network shares.
On the XP machine, under 'view workgroup computers' I see both machines -
but when I go to access the ME machine I get '\\winME is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this network resource.'
On the ME machine, I cannot see the XP machine in 'view workgroup
computers'. If I attempt to access the XP machine, I get 'windows cannot
find '\\winXP'. Check the spelling and try again.'
I have enabled file & printer sharing on both machines, and disabled all
firewalls.
It's been a long time since I networked a win9x machine so I assume I have
forgotten something.
Any help is appreciated!
