You don`t say which model of AMD 64bit processor you`ve got. ?.
If you know the make and model of your motherboard, you can
find out what ram you need, and how much, here.

Read the motherboard owner's manual. Typically, a 64bit system will support
either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. But if it's a micro-ATX mainboard, it might only
have two RAM slots and support up to 2GB maximum of RAM. But first you have
to see if you have an open RAM slot. You have to open up the case to do
that, and examine the motherboard to see if you have any empty RAM slots.
If you have an empty RAM slot, just get yourself a 1GB RAM board and install
it into the empty slot. It wouldn't be worth it to add less than 1GB extra.
If you put a 512MB stick in there, you will later want to replace it with a
1GB stick anyway. -Dave

Well, the mainboard probably came with a manual. Frankly, unless
you're doing something really big with it you'd be wasting your money.

Forgot about Vista coming soon, eh? :) -Dave

Hmmm, last I heard it was q1 next year. That isn't very soon. Others
who study the industry say even q1 is likelyoptimistic.
