Ok to disable Windows Firewall Service?

I'm using McAfee's Personal Firewall instead of Windows Firewall on XP SP2.
As I look through Services, I notice that the Windows Firewall/Internet
Connection Sharing service is started and the startup type is automatic.

Is there any reason I shouldn't stop the service and change it to manual?

You need to look at the actual firewall properties. If Windows detects a recognized 3rd party firewall, it automatically disables the Windows Firewall. If not, you can explicitly turn it off and tell the Security Center not to warn you about it.

Thanks Doug. Windows did turn off Windows Firewall when it recognized
McAfee's firewall. But I was referring to Services in Administrative Tools.
In there, the service entitled "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing"
is started and the startup type is automatic. Is it ok to stop this service
and set it to manual, given that I am using another firewall?

No , just make sure that when your open Control Panel -> Windows Firewall ,
the firewall is set to Off
