First, I'm the guy who asked about the graininess of my scans. Thanks for
all the input. One thing I have noticed is that with my standard viewing
program, VuePrint, the scans look quite grainy. When I preview them in
Windows Explorer Filmstrip, they don't look grainy at all. Any explanation.
I'll have to see how they print.

My other question concerns this paper attachment to many of my negatives.
It would appear to be there to hold onto. Unfortunately, I cannot scan with
it on. It removes easily but leaves a white gummy edge which is a problem.
What do I do about this. Is there a better way to get the paper off or some
way to get the gummy edge off?

Thanks

Barry

Isn't it obvious... Any program starting with "Vue..." is buggy! ;o)

Seriously though, just to be sure, try another program. Here's an
excellent yet *free* viewer which actually does much more (!):

If it confirms Windows Explorer then it's time to delete Vueprint.
If it doesn't it's time to delete the Explorer... ;o)

Yes, that's so one doesn't leave fingerprints all over. This is really
more of an issue for glossy paper.

There are sprays for removing any type of adhesive left by various
sticky items including tape. It's usually based on an oily compound.

You can also try a home solution (worked for me in a different
context) by using any type of cooking oil. After removing the paper
attachment dab a piece of a paper towel or tissue into oil and rub the
sticky residue away. Depending on how dry it is it may take more or
less work. Finally, take a clean piece of tissue and polish off any
oily remnants.

Don.

Thank You.

You were right, the grain seems to be a function of VuePrint..

I'll try the solutions to clean the gum.

Thanks

Let's see, Vuescan, Vueprint, remind me never to waste my time trying
out Vue D'Esprit... ;-)
