I'm not sure this is the right place or not..but I'll fire away at any rate...
A week or two ago I when to go and play an mp3 on my computer while surfing. but the mp3 player took forever to gear up and my internet began being sluggish then it down and out jammed on me. the mp3 player also jammed up on me. they both froze for awhile before gearing up.
even when I just start up my computer and select an mp3 to listen to its sluggish (the program) then when it does start up its fine. but if i start the internet after i had just played an mp3 it freezes up and i have to restart my computer.
also when I go to shut down my computer everything but the background and the mouse goes away and it stays that way until i hit the power button on the tower.
So I thought that it was a virus so I did a virus scan. then when it came to a file known as "WINDOWS/SYSTEM32" the scanner froze too!
I asked my computer savvy friend - he buildt this thing - but he moved to Delaware with his girlfriend on a whim. so he wasn't able to come over and take a look at it. but he said that it sounds like a register problem.
any ideas on how i can fix this - is this something that could snow ball into something worse?
I barely know anything about computers what I know is amature at best.
-whew-
thanks for taking a look at this and thanks in advance for all who help me out!
I run windows xp
And use avast anti-virus.
