My PC just died ...

Going out tonight so it will not be "fixed" until I get a roundtuit ... :(

Dam blast & little fishies.

I'm on my spare at the moment and it was not running either ... both linux, both were just updated today, hmmm, very strange ... the only PC that was running was the MJW pc so it was not a power cut.

Oh well ... off out to get drunk. :D

:)

Don`t try to fix it when your drunk:eek: will you please mucks wiat till sober:D

oh no no ... I'm not aloud to get drunk. :D

Well, you know that "cheap-n-crappy" PSU that looks good on paper, the fan on it is still knackard ... but I do not know why both Linux PCs restarted themselves.

I've made a temporary repair, I disconnected the fan in the PSU ... now back crunching. ;)

Are you sure it will be ok like that?

Mucks,

That is not a good idea, unless you plan to be monitoring it all the time and not leave the PC out of sight! Theses things don't give warnings of any kind

Yes, I am sure ... but I would NOT recomend it for anybody.

It won't go "BANG" ;) it does not get warm, it is under no load whatsoever, even crunching, and will be replaced sometime next week ... when I get a roundtuit. :D

Let me just reiterate ... I DO NOT RECOMEND anybody do as I do ... ;)

Naw, not really, but I do know that this PSU is not being taxed in any way ... it really does not get warm and does have very good heatsyncs on it.

It was 'broken' from the first time I fitted it where the fan made a gawd awful noise ... I made it worse trying to 'fix' it but it somehow managed to 'work' again, with that awful noise ... this time I made sure it ain't gonna annoy me. ;)

I also have two Enermax PSUs, one helps keep 'the hovel' warm and has always run warm ... the other, a newer model, runs cold.

The name of this 'no-name' escapes me for the moment but this 'cheap' PSU is bundled as a cool-n-quiet PSU ... I just took it one step further. :D

I cool my systems my way ... only one has ever run OTT and that now has a new HSF and no case fans either. ;)

I am quite a contrivers when it come to cooling a PC ... :D

Sounds like you have it sorted and as Me says at least its workng. :thumb:

or maybe not

If the fan broke again , you could let it crunch in the freezer ...yes ??
