For some reasons, we have removed a server from our
network. however, several remote users are still getting
a message about the server being not available for
synchronization. they have gone through their offline
folders and there is no files remaining from the old
server in it.
What can they do to remove any reference to that old
server and make sure that the synchronization is not
attempted for the old server any more.

Thanks!

Re-initialize the offline files cache (syncronize first), then resetup
the offline files...

That is the only way I have been able to get around this problem.

.....and in the future ditch offline files; this is only one of many
problems. See www.centered.com and check out SecondCopy. I much much much
prefer it and make it part of my standard build for laptops/remote
users....point My Docs at a local folder, sync it using the software to the
home directory, whatnot.

From Explorer select tools from the menu bar. Then select
folder options, followed by the Offline Files tab. On
this page you will see a Delete Files button. Hold the
shift key down when you press this button. WARNING: This
requires local Admin Access and will delete all cached
user content. There is a tech article on this by I could
not find it.

Best of luck

Thanks for the link to that...

There are a few new features/fixes to be included in XP SP2 that will
be helpful...

That would be nice - offline folders is a PITA and I've seen too many
problems with lost data.
