offline folder problem?

Ben

I have several clients with offline folders set up.

When they connect remotely however, something strange happens. When browsing
the shares of a server, only the shares that have been made available
offline appear. I cannot view any other shares that are there. If try to
access a known share with a UNC I get an authentication dialogue appear -
this doesn't accept the user's details or even the administrator username
and password.

Whilst still connected I go and disable offline files. Haypresto - I can now
browse the shares on the server again!

Anyone experienced this before? Any clues as to what may be the problem?

Thanks

Ben

Try to syncronize... I have seen this behavior on a VP laptop at work
and haven't figured out how to solve the problem other than
re-syncing...

Thanks for your reply Jeffrey

The plot thickens.

I have found that if one makes some folders available offline then they are
still able to see other shares on that Server when dialing in.....

BUT if one has their "My Documents" folder re-directed to a network location
that is made available offline, then when RAS'd he cannot see any other
shares on the server.

I'd be interested to see if anyone else can replicate this problem.

Bug?

To tell you the truth, that is how the setup is at the office for the
VP laptop (I don't remap My Documents for other machines)... I will
do a bit more troubleshooting tomorrow at work and see what I can come
up with...

Jeffrey,

I've got an SRQ going with Microsoft on this, but they don't seem very
interested - plus the girl dealing with it is now on holiday till monday.

This has to be a bug of some sort. I've replicated the exact same thing on 4
different computers now.

Let me know if you get any further!
