offline files

I have a laptop and a desktop together in my workgroup in my home office. I
do not use Outlook as an email client, but I do use it for managing my
contacts. I know that Outlook works very well in a Exchange server setting
and can easily synch offline files. I would like to know if that would be
possible in a workgroup setting so that any changes I make to my contacts
while out on the road using my laptop can be easily synched back to my
desktop when I return to my office.
