We have installed a new server, but the laptops are trying to synchronize to
the old server. This means that they often go offline because they don't see
the old server anymore.
Is there a solution for this?

try making a alias in dns with the name of the old server the points
to your new server.
if the name is not the problem, please give some more information
about your problem. is the server and are the laptops in a domain?

you need to use a tool called csccmd.exe that is in the resource kit tool of the Windows 2K3 cd or you can download from their website. once you download the tool you can put it on the c:\ drive and from a command promp you need this command c:\csccmd.exe /moveshare:\\oldserver\sharename \\newserver\sharename the new shareneme needs to be online so that the offline files point to the new location. This is going to move all of your files that were trying to synchronize to the old server to the new and the message will go away. It is not always successful specially if you have a lot of files on the csc database. the csc database is a hidden system file. you can email me directly if you have any more questions
