Offline Files in Windows XP Home?

Nick

I have installed a home network successfully with 2
computers, both running Windows XP Home, and a router.
The network files sharing is working well and I can see
and use the files on either computer, when the network is
operating.

However, I want to be able to keep copies of the files on
each computer and keep them synchronised. I have looked
in MS Help and KnowledgeBase and keep seeing references
to Offline Files and synchronisation. However, I don't
seem to be able to see or use the Offline Files tab. Is
this because they are only in XP professional and not in
XP home? I couldn't find any documentation that is clear
about this.

Can I achieve the same capability using Briefcase in
Windows XP Home, or something else, perhaps 3rd party?
If so is there a reference for this?

Regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Your assumption is correct. Offline files and folders is only available on
XP Professional.

Briefcase is slightly different than Offline files and may or may not do
what you need to. I'm not an expert on Briefcase, maybe someone on here
with better experience could comment.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
