I have a user on Office 2003 and Windows 2000. When he is working with a
PowerPoint presentation and tries to save his changes while offline,
Powerpoint stops responding and can't be shutdown. The save progress bar
goes across on the status bar and just stays there at the end. It doesn't
happen everytime he tries to save, but it is very frequent.

I have checked that he has plenty of space left in his Offline Files cache
and have tried reinstalling office. I have also tested this out on a
different notebook with different files and get the same results. It appears
to happen most when the files are larger than 8Mb.

I have also had the exact same problem

all i have been able to find is:

There is a hotfix available from Microsoft that will fix the problem with
not being able to save large powerpoints while offline with Windows XP. You
will need to call Microsoft and refer to the hot fix for KB870593. The case
number SRX050720601405 refers to the problem and the solution.

from http://blogs.msdn.com/jonathanh/archive/2004/08/21/218463.aspx

Which is great but the hotfix doesnt seem to exist nor anything to do with
the case number If you have since found out how to solve this problem could
you please let me know. Thanks
